Natixis IM - Dorval Asset Management: when one of the leading players in sustainable investment decides to align its website with its promise and values

A company committed to sustainable finance

Asset Management is the management of equity portfolios. By integrating the notion of Socially Responsible Investing (SRI), Dorval AM creates financial products that take into account extra-financial parameters. These include environmental, social and governance criteria, which are of fundamental importance to their business.

In its fund strategy, Dorval AM does not emphasise profitability at all costs and instead focuses on sustainable actions. Aware that finance has a major role to play in promoting sustainable development, Dorval AM has placed its CSR and ESG commitments at the heart of its values.

"We are able to offer a global diagnosis of the environment in which our investor clients find themselves, and then build portfolios with a sustainable asset management approach. - Philippe Cormon, Director of Business Development and Marketing

Why and how to measure its digital impact?

For Dorval AM, committing to improving their digital impacts was a no-brainer. Aligning all aspects of their business with their strong values, embodied by their brand signature "Give value to your values". The redesign of their website therefore had to be eco-friendly, while delivering a promise of performance for their stakeholders.

Dorval chose to use the fruggr.io tool for two reasons: on the one hand, the commitment, a common DNA of the two structures, driven by responsible purchasing in the social economy, and on the other hand, the advanced digital expertise of Digital4Better, publisher of fruggr.

To know where we were starting from, we had to measure the digital impact of the existing site, on 3 perimeters: Environment, Social and Sobriety. The overall score was 66/100, resulting in a fruggr Digital Sustainable Score of C (A to E), with an environmental score of only 47/100, a real opportunity for improvement.

Our solutions for a sustainable website

Digital4Better provides UX/UI design and technical support. To initiate this sobriety approach, a two-month audit was carried out on the existing site, but also on Dorval AM's persona and teams.

Then an eco-design roadmap including new paths was created to determine what could be kept and what needed to be improved, particularly certain functions that were not very economical. Videos were optimised and no longer play automatically. Information is reorganised to highlight their teams and funds, and through this their commitment. A "headless" CMS has also been put in place, which has made it possible to remove a range of relatively heavy and little-used tools based on a static page rendering architecture.

The objective? To raise the overall score and get an A certificate!

Thanks to the implementation of these optimisations, the site's environmental score is now 69/100, and the overall score has reached the objective of 85/100, with the prospect of new improvement levers such as server optimisation.

This eco-design approach, initially applied to the redesign of the site, has been extended to the brand identity (graphic charter, communication media, etc.), making Natixis IM - Dorval AM the first asset management company to be eco-designed in its entirety.
